![]() It sounds maybe kinda like ZDoom or something, where you can download the source port for free but you still have to buy a Doom iwad to play on it. I don't profess to fully understand the details of what's happening here, but from what I see this developer is currently working on this internally with Metroid Prime code they own, likely from their own copy of the game, and it might not become a problem until they start actually distributing copies of this that actually include the game. This is versus a cleanroom implementation where you have your friend who read the book give you all of the information in his own words, and then using those words to create a whole new book where you reference the pictures/graphs/etc from the other book. but, your translation is still an unofficial translation and still an infringement to release. You have to own the original book to reference the pictures/layouts/charts/etc for the translation to work and make sense. You release your translation, but without those things. You know you don't own the pictures, the fonts, charts, graphs or the layouts for the book. You then decide that you want other people who speak your language to also be able to read it. For personal use, this is completely legal behavior. You speak the language, but not very well so you decide to translate into your native language. You bought a scientific manual on shrimp. If we're going to stick to the book analogy, it's more like this: ![]() Unless your glasses are re-writing parts of the book.
